Sheltering Wing Heritage Wall

Join CHCP on Sunday September 7 for a visit to Heinlenville Park. The park is a result of collaboration between local historians, artists, and community leaders.

At the park entrance, see the public art sculpture titled “Sheltering Wing” by artist Roger Stoller. The 18’ tall sculpture is embedded with imagery portraying important Japanese* and Chinese cultural symbols and depictions of the Chinese American experience.

The park's Heritage Wall and History Path recount San José’s broader history and focuses on important aspects of this location's past as the site of Heinlenville Chinatown, the last Chinatown in San Jose.

  • 1:00 - 2:30 pm: SDCAP guides will lead activities/tours of the Sculpture, Heritage Wall, and History Path.
  • 2:30 - 4:00 pm: Enjoy free snacks, mah jong, and social time.
